"Innovative Strategies for Engaging Youth in Wellness", presentation by Julie Anne Laser-Maira, MSW, LCSW, PhD and Nicole Nicotera, MSW, LICSW, PhD

Summary:
This interactive Salon discusses clinical techniques and skills that are evidenced based, but even more importantly capture and hold the interest of youth.
The presentation emphasizes both well-being (supporting positive healthy development) and resilience (supporting growth after a negative event) of youth.

The topics being covered are:
Experiential therapy, and mind-body therapy and mindfulness. The presenters for each of these therapies are experts in their respective field. The book covers Experiential Therapy, mind-body therapy and mindfulness, animal assisted therapy, horticulture therapy, and healthy sexuality, but due to time constraints we will only present the first two interventions.

Each presenter will provide clear examples of techniques and demonstrate the techniques so that the new or seasoned clinicians will have the knowledge needed for: implementation, required materials,
suitable locations for use (e.g., school settings, clinic settings, after school settings), personal preparation, and any needed modifications for specific populations.

The 2017-2018 Salon Series is sponsored by Elements Behavioral Health
