"Working with Muslim Americans as a Clinical Social Worker"

with Iman Jodeh, MPA, Director and Co-Founder of Meet the Middle East

Summary: As it stands today, Islam is the most misunderstood and misrepresented religion in the world. However, many are unaware of the 1.3 billion people that find peace in Islam. But what happens when these two worlds meet and service providers are needed in Muslim American communities? How do we insure that our clinicians are culturally sensitive to the fastest growing religion in the world? Iman Jodeh, a practicing Muslim American, will explore different paths to achieving this successfully.

About Iman: Iman has worked with international non-profits since receiving her masters degree in Public Policy. A first-generation Palestinian-American, Iman is fluent in Arabic and maintains a second home in Ramallah, Palestine. In addition to her role at Meet the Middle East, she lectures at the University of Denver, and is a regular guest speaker on Islam and the geopolitical climate of the Middle East. She is also the Spokeswoman for the Colorado Muslim Society and the Community Advocate and Liaison for the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado where she advocates for marginalized communities during the legislative session.
