Meet the CSCSW Board

Board President - Lisa Oceguera-Nelson, LCSW, ACS, CFSW

Lisa graduated with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University in 2010. She began her career in Boston working for several years in community based psychiatric rehabilitation serving individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. She graduated from Simmons College with her MSW in 2014. Following a move to Denver in 2014, Lisa worked for several years at an outpatient treatment center providing mandated sexual offense specific treatment for individuals who have committed a sexual offense and are under community supervision through probation and/or parole. Lisa obtained her LCSW in 2017, became an Approved Clinical Supervisor and a Certified Financial Social Worker in 2020. She has owned a private practice since 2016 where she provides clinical supervision and serves adult clients around topics related to money and mental health, anxiety, depression, and stress management. Lisa also has a therapy dog, Ruby, who often accompanies her to work and loves visiting with clients. In addition to working at her practice, Lisa currently works as a shift supervisor for a local mental health Mobile Crisis Response team. Lisa has previously served as the events coordinator for CSCSW and CSCSW Board Secretary.

Treasurer - Liz Schulte, LCSW

Liz Schulte has been a member of CSCSW since 2014. She is an MSW graduate of DU GSSW. She has been a clinical social worker for over 15 years, and has been in private practice since 2012 working with individuals across the life-span. She is also the Chair of the NASW-CO Practice Standards Committee, a volunteer committee that drafts guidelines for social workers in Colorado to help them navigate clinical, ethical, and statutory issues in their practice. Liz has also previously served as CSCSW Board President. As part of her private practice, she supervises first and second year social work interns and social workers working towards licensure in Colorado. She also provides post-licensure consultation to social workers in support of their clinical practice. She is also former accountant, and consult with mental health professionals to help them organize the financial aspects of their private practice.

Secretary - Kush Desai, LCSW, ACS

Kush Desai is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Approved Clinical Supervisor in Colorado and Wyoming. He provides clinical supervision, consulting, and organizational development to both new and established mental health practitioners. Kush is dedicated to helping practitioners expand their knowledge base and build confidence. In addition to supporting professional growth, he guides the creation and implementation of sustainable systems and processes that ensure long-term practice success. His career has encompassed a variety of Social Work settings, including homeless services, victim advocacy, mental health care, clinical quality, and end-of-life care. With experience in both direct patient care and leadership, Kush draws on a broad skill set to support practitioners at every stage of their professional journey.

Kush is deeply committed to the CSCSW’s mission of advocating for the social work profession and serving as an educational resource for its community. In addition to his consulting and supervision work, he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Social Work at Simmons University, focusing on practitioner well-being and equity in healthcare access.

Awards and Scholarship Committee Chair - Bethany Raab, MSW, LCSW, ACS

Bethany is a 2006 DU GSSW graduate who has been a social worker and therapist since 2006, a clinical supervisor since 2010, and owner of her private practice since 2012. Bethany's clinical focus is adolescents who struggle with relationships and problematic sexual behavior. In addition to to private practice, Bethany has worked in a broad range of settings including residential treatment, inpatient hospital, community mental health, domestic violence shelter, probation, and court-ordered outpatient therapy. She has a specific interest in bridging the gap between micro and macro social work, specifically through policy and legislation.

Bethany and her team at Colorado LCSW Supervision provide group and individual supervision for early-career social workers. Bethany also provides consultation services, including clinical case consultation, practice-building help, and supervision of supervision for those pursuing their Approved Clinical Supervisor credential.

Bethany previously served as an Education Committee Co-Chair for CSCSW, as Treasurer for NASW-CO, and Co-Chair of the NASW-CO Private Practice Group.

Education Committee Co-Chair - Alyssa Glaser, LCSW, CST

Alyssa Glaser, LCSW, CST, has been practicing in the social work field since 2020, shortly after graduating from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Master's in Social Work (MSW). She is a Certified Sex Therapist (CST) through the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). She has worked with clients who experience persistent mental health challenges, justice-involved adults, and crisis intervention. She currently owns a private practice called Cultivating Compassion Therapy, PLLC in Broomfield, CO; specializing in OCD treatment, sex therapy, and trauma therapy. While not working in private practice, she works on a Mobile Crisis Team with SAFY of Colorado.

Membership Committee Chair - Marissa Martin, LCSW

Marissa is an EMDR psychotherapist and the owner of a private practice established in 2022. She specializes in working with young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, existential concerns, and trauma.

Marissa earned her B.G.S. in Communication Studies with a minor in Psychology from the University of Kansas in 2017. During her undergraduate years, she volunteered with Kansas Suicide Prevention HQ, providing crisis support to community members. While pursuing her MSW, she gained clinical experience in HIV case management and individual therapy at an outpatient group practice. After completing her MSW in 2019, Marissa worked in various settings, including dependency case management, addiction treatment, and eating disorder residential care.

Outside of work, Marissa enjoys live music, practicing yoga, going on hikes, playing with her cat, and watching basketball.

Faculty Liaison - University of Denver - Nikki Allen, LCSW

Nikki Allen, LCSW, LAC is a Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work. Her primary teaching focus is on integrated health care and substance use. Prior to joining the faculty full-time, Nikki taught as an adjunct professor for over ten years teaching such courses as Virtual Field Experience, Assessment of Mental Health, Concentration Field Internship Seminar, Integrated Social Work Practice for Social Justice, Clinical Social Work Theory and Practice, and Leadership and Supervision Skills, as well as working as a Field Liaison. Nikki also works as Adjunct Faculty at the Iliff School of Theology teaching Internship Seminar.

Nikki graduated from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work in 2006. She worked for over a decade providing clinical behavioral health services, supervision and program management in integrated healthcare services delivery at a healthcare for the homeless clinic. More recently, she provided behavioral health services at a small for-profit primary care practice. Nikki has a passion for providing quality mental health treatment in the context of primary care. She holds a Primary Care Behavioral Health Certification from the University of Massachusetts. Additionally, Nikki has been active in consulting work, including a project for the City of Denver related to mental health and homelessness. She continues to also provide clinical supervision to a handful of practitioners in the field.

Student Representative - University of Denver - Julianna Brunn

Julianna Brunn is a foundation year student at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work, hailing from Baltimore. With a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Towson University (2023), she has a deep passion for clinical social work and a commitment to enhancing client interactions. As a student liaison, Julianna aims to advocate for her peers and contribute to meaningful change in the field. By focusing on connecting students and professionals to foster collaboration and drive innovative practices that prioritize empathy and inclusivity. She believes that diverse perspectives are crucial for improving outcomes in social work.
