Learning Objectives:
  • Identify the core business, administrative, and ethical tasks required to establish a private practice in Colorado.
  • Describe foundational personal, scheduling, and wellness practices that support sustainability in the first six months of solo work.
  • Recognize the foundational elements of early visibility and communication needed to help clients find and understand their services.
About Bethany:
Bethany Raab, LCSW, ACS, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and educator based in Colorado. She is the founder of Petal & Peak Mental Health and the Center for Ethical Social Work Practice, where she provides clinical supervision, consultation, and training for social workers statewide. Bethany is a Past President of the Colorado Society for Clinical Social Work and currently serves as CSCSW Awards Committee Chair, with prior leadership roles including CSCSW Education Committee Co-Chair and Co-Chair of the NASW Private Practice Group. With more than 20 years of experience across community mental health, residential treatment, inpatient psychiatric care, court-ordered outpatient services, and private practice, she supports clinicians in building practices that are ethical, sustainable, and aligned with their values. Her teaching emphasizes practical decision-making, clear boundaries, and early visibility that helps clients understand services without compromising professionalism, grounded in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and relational frameworks.

Who is this Workshop For?
This workshop (and others in this series) is for mental health professionals who are looking to start a private practice. These workshops are also great for clinicians who are in private practice, but could use some additional support.
