Clinical social work practice is the provision of services for the assessment, treatment, and prevention of mental, behavioral, and emotional disorders in individuals, families, and groups. Clinical social workers have either a masters or doctoral degree in social work with a concentration in clinical course work and a supervised graduate field internship. Private practitioners must also be licensed to provide therapeutic services. Clinical social workers qualify as approved providers in most managed care and insured plans, but inclusion in preferred provider lists is individually determined by each practitioner.

The following directory lists the names of therapists who have qualified to be members of the Colorado Society for Clinical Social Work. The list is divided by geographical areas of therapists' offices and by practice specialties. Inclusion in this directory is voluntary and implies no endorsement, guarantee, responsibility, or liability of any kind by CSCSW for any practitioner or treatment approach listed. In addition, inclusion in this directory does not guarantee that a particular therapist will have an immediate opening to see you.

When you contact a therapist, you will probably want to ask some questions concerning the therapist's areas of expertise, treatment approach, fee structure, and whether he/she is on any insurance lists. You should get enough information in your initial phone contact to determine whether that particular therapist would be a good match for you based on your individual needs and financial abilities. At your first visit, the therapist will advise you of your rights as a client and ask you to read and sign a form stating these rights.
