Membership Committee

The Membership Committee performs the vital function of ensuring the continuity of the organization. The tasks of this committee are primarily twofold: marketing CSCSW to clinical social workers in Colorado in order to increase membership; and providing a structure for the inclusion and integration of clinical social workers new to the community or to the profession.

In the public relations and marketing functions of the Membership Committee, we are constantly looking for ways to be seen as a useful resource to clinical social workers throughout the state. To that end, this committee focuses on the services that CSCSW can offer to its members. Our philosophy is that it is important to provide sufficient networking opportunities, using both a social as well as an educational format.

The Membership Committee is also concerned with helping new members feel part of the clinical social work community. It provides mentoring groups to recently graduated MSW’s, led by a “seasoned” clinician. These groups are free of charge to all MSW graduates with less than 5 years experience. All group members are encouraged to become CSCSW members.

Other services have been provided to the students at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work with the dual goal of helping them integrate into the professional community and attracting them to membership in CSCSW. Noon-hour presentations (complete with pizza, of course!) have included how to “jump start your career”, private practice, community work, and how to go about preparing for licensure.
