For Students
The Colorado Society for Clinical Social Work is committed to serving
the needs of students in undergraduate and graduate schools of social
work in the following ways:
- Financially supporting their education
We will
begin offering in academic year 2006-2007 a $1,000 scholarship to an MSW student in the last year of his or her education who
has chosen a clinical specialty.
- Connecting them to information about schools
of social work
- Providing educational
opportunities through our salon series
Through the institutional membership of the University of
Denver Graduate School of Social Work in CSCSW, students in that
program may sign up through our board liaison, Marian Bussey, to attend salon series presentations.
- Rewarding
excellence in clinical training
The Ina Mae Denham award is given annually to a graduating MSW student who has won a competition
by writing a paper on a clinical subject that has been chosen for
its meritorious quality by a CSCSW committee and the university
faculty.
- Providing information about the transition into a career
CSCSW board members give presentations at DU over the lunch hour (and provide pizza, too!)
about integrating into the professional community, “jumpstarting” your career, preparing for licensure,
and transitioning into private practice.
- Brown Bag Luncheon Series
On the third Thursday of many months during the academic year, the Clinical Society offers
educational seminars related to clinical practice, career development, integration into the
professional community, preparing for licensure, and much more. The brown bags are held
during the lunch hour at DU, and we provide pizza too!
In 2012-2013, CSCSW will be proud to expand the Brown Bag Series to Metro State University.
- Offering access to therapeutic services at a discounted
rate
Often the experience of graduate school produces personal stress
and brings up old or new issues for students. Many CSCSW members
volunteer every year to provide therapy at a reduced fee to students
who desire this type of service and would otherwise not be able to
receive it. Karen Bensen is the current DU faculty liaison for
this service. She will help students who are in need of discounted
therapeutic services connect with the members who are offering reduced
fees.
